One of my clients is in a new phase of his Dementia.

It hurts so bad to see him slowly slipping away and nothing we can do.
He's sundowning now and we've had to hide the car keys and he's been very hostile lately and a bit handsy with one of the caregivers.
They adjusted his meds again so maybe this will help.
It's so sad that there is treatment but no cure for Dementia....

Father in law has it, he was in the phase you described a year ago, in a memory care facility for 11 months now and gotten really bad off. Once one moment is done, he completely forgets it happened. Not to mention peeing on himself
