The thing is, this is a so-called democracy. What do politicians do? They kick the can down the road. They push failing policies on and on because it's what the people want. What matters to them is staying elected.
Millions of Americans depend on SNAP. People can't afford the current food prices. Farmers can't afford to stay in business with government subsidies. Congress can’t ignore that. They’ve already cut a lot over the years. Trump cut back on many of the benefits the first time he was in office. Biden kept most of the Trump-era policies.
Polls are already showing that Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill is causing backlash. My guess is we could see a Blue Wave in 2028.
