I'm different. I retired and was glad to be going. Turned down the luncheon. Just wanted to do my last day and walk out the door
Had a good working relationship but they weren't my family

Same happened to me. I worked there nearly 30 years.. one of America's biggest companies, and got nothing, not even a goodbye from management.
Had a one hour session with co-workers and then goodbye.
Feels like I wasted a third of my life there, pretty sad.

Long term employees should be given tons of sh_t at the end as an incentive for others to stick around. It's pretty simple logic.

We are all just a number! Most think we can be easily replaced but knowledge and experience does count for a lot.

We had a huge celebration for 4 retirees yesterday. Sorry to hear that.

unfortunately , such are companies.
Get as much out of the worker and then disregard them

I guess that makes it clear to the rest of the wage slaves how much the company cares about them. They couldn't even be bothered to make a half-hearted empty gesture.

In the end we all are just a cog in the machine and ready to be thrown away when the time comes.
