Tried requesting this day off from work and they denied it :(

I worked with a guy who called in sick and left a message that he was going to a baseball game. The next day he was warned that wasn't a legitimate excuse. So after that he said his malaria was acting up. No problem.

From a real story:

"Hello, I need the day off next Monday"

- "Ehh you can't take it, because [...]"

"Then take a note already that I'll be sick on Monday"
