Tried to negotiate a company-wide raise. What they did was give me a raise and a work truck

😮‍💨. I mean, Im grateful but honestly I'm not the only one out there that deserves more money.

I told them as much and I think I have them considering at least two others so thats something.

Seems like they're at least working on a bureaucratic structure whereby others can stand to more easily obtain an above-scale raise. Thats good, too.

Progress is progress and I'll take it. We all fantasize about the slam-dunks, I'm no different, but the reality seems to be that the wins are usually less than the dream.

Sounds like you sold out to the man...

@GeniUs that is definitely not what happened. If it didnt seem like I could get them to spread the love i wouldnt still be here. I really think things can be better for all of us.

@Eternity Keep plugging away but it looks like they only take people asking for themselves seriously.

@GeniUs i asked for all of us and they just chose to give me one. Their reasoning is that others are less deserving.

We do have some sucky people on the crew im not going to lie, but you're always going to have that.

There are at least two others who deserve it based on merit, and I think i will be able to convince them to at the very least give them some more money.

And they're coming out with a program whereby people can meet criteria to get a raise.

I suspect whoever went to them would've got the raise, a 'cut off the head' type scenario.
And they're coming out with a program whereby people can meet criteria to get a raise.
I've been in organisations that do this and that creates a hurdle to clear before you will be considered, now they can just fall back on 'you didn't meet the criteria'.
I'll be interested to see how this plays out.

@GeniUs if thats how this goes then I'll pivot and try another play. They, at least seem, like they're trying to put their money where their mouth is as far as their "criteria".

They've provided black and white parameters.
now they can just fall back on 'you didn't meet the criteria'.
This is true, but it is also true the other way around. If you meet the criteria then they have 0 excuse.

If I can get the guys I know can/do meet their criteria checks in those boxes, if these guys are serious about their reasonings, then they should get raises.

And once they do the door is officially open for more.

If we dont at least attempt to use these paths they provided then they have a "bad faith" argument against the changes we want.

If we play by the rules and it still doesnt happen then I've got a black play in mind; Sun Tzu says the highest form of warfare is to win without conflict, though, so that is going to be held back as a last resort.

@GeniUs you have to help yourself before you can help others.

@SW-User No that doesn't have to be true.
