I agree. I’ve worked remotely most of my life. Currently, my office is the whole southeast United States.

It was painful going back to the office after lockdown. I loved working from home. I didn't get fully dressed for like four months straight

@BigImo same
MonaReeves86 · 36-40, F
@BigImo not even for virtual meetings
BigImo · 22-25, F
@MonaReeves86 put on a shirt and did the first few buttons but that's it

There was a large change, most people spent teams calls naked or half dressed.
Back in the office we had to get used to clothes and these things on our feet called shoes.
There's no desire to go back. That was my experience. But retirement even bests remote work.
Sunrises · 26-30, F
@OldGrandDad I bet it does lol
Anniedlr · 26-30, F
I’ve never worked in an office😂😂🙂🐼🥢
deadteddy · 26-30, F
I’m doing it and I’m loving it . At first I didn’t like it because I liked going to work and dressing up and all that but now I’m very comfortable working from home. I can sleep more and I think that’s the part I like most about it 😌.
Sunrises · 26-30, F
@deadteddy Same. I can decide whether I want to be in the office or not. Last week I was working remotely everyday and it was perfectly fine.
rfatoday · 61-69, M
Looking to return to the high tech field. Worked from home the last 20 years. Going to the office? If I have to. Seems to be the thing now, or hybrid
Sunrises · 26-30, F
@rfatoday I work in the tech industry and this is my life now. I wouldn’t have it an other way
So true but then the building owners weren't making money and the companies starting forcing workers back into the buildings.
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
Well, until your boss says come back or lose your job.
Sunrises · 26-30, F
@Starcrossed I would choose the second option
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
@Sunrises when you have a mortgage and a car payment that isn't always an option.
Sunrises · 26-30, F
@Starcrossed That’s why I own a business
Ynotisay · M
Agree. Still have to do the work, and it's not right for everyone, but for some it's the only way to fly.
Sunrises · 26-30, F
@Ynotisay Yup, I like to mix both of best worlds during my week
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
I have been remote since the pandemic. They may force us back at least half-time eventually. The issue has been delayed since we are moving office locations (planned since before the pandemic). My commute would worse, the neighborhood sucks, and I became disabled last year, making it hard to walk. Maybe I could get a special accommodation.
Aww.... only so sympathetic, though. There are many currently in this world who can't work from home who receive low raises, but it's been good cover in the news and social media, not how corporations are making record profit, or how their employees are being stiffed, but about can they work from home?
Sunrises · 26-30, F
@thewindupbirdchronicles what’s your point?
Rambler · M
True, for me
BeachGirl47 · 26-30, F
Sunrises · 26-30, F
@BeachGirl47 🫱🏼‍🫲🏻
After working from home since 1 January 2002..... I can't imagine EVER going back to an office (although TBH, I have a home office...)
SteelHands · 61-69, M
Eventually an AI monitoring your telecommute sessions will take your job.

That's the only reason employers are going for it.
plungesponge · 41-45, M
Is it mostly the commute that is the biggest difference?
Sunrises · 26-30, F
@plungesponge That and personally I like to get comfortable and I can’t do that at work
meJess · F
Is there a remote chance of any work being done?
Sunrises · 26-30, F
@meJess I get the work done
Ynotisay · M
@meJess I've worked remotely for about 15 years and get more done than if I was in an office.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
They just hire someone else
Sunrises · 26-30, F
@MasterLee If they don’t care about keeping the best employees they shall do that
SteelHands · 61-69, M
Imagine hiring the top ten best in field in every field and using their sessions to create an ideal AI self learn and specialise program that sells for a million a pop.

Don't think so? I predict every college professor will be unable to find a job in mikky dees within 10 years. Maybe 5.
Fungirlmmm · 51-55, F
Until you enroll your daughter in private school, which is located pretty close to your place of work and then you stay at the office until it's time to pick her up, which saves a lot of time over driving to and from home twice a day, yes, there's no going back.
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
not sure how I feel about remote work
Ynotisay · M
@Hanginginthere It really depends on the work and the person. And that became very clear during the pandemic. It's just not right for everyone.
Hanginginthere · 31-35, M
@Ynotisay I feel like I wouldn't get anything done, I like to move around a lot
Ynotisay · M
@Hanginginthere Yeah. That's the thing. You need to approach it like you're in an office setting. It's about creating a routine. Still need to do the work. But there's definitely perks.
