Part time/ full time working in a household... As parents.

Do you both work full time?

Or either or both work part-time or do shift work?

Do you have paid or family/friends that help with children?

How does that work for you? Do you wish you could make some changes?

In a typical Indian households where joint family structure is a norm it is the grandparents who take care of the children when parents go to work. Children enjoy the company of their grandparents more than their parents as they are very free. Also one advantage of the joint family is that children can play and grow up together with their cousins. There may be merits and demerits though.

@Explorer This is similar structure to eastern rural Canada. The aunts/uncles and any living grand parents tend the kids until school age. During this time, the parents work.

@Yohkomori oh yes. That's very similar indeed and quite a reliable one too.
