Speaking of that, would a modern agrarian lifestyle really be that bad? Especially if you're working class and will be for the rest of your life?

You are going to bust your ass if you're working class in the USA. That is a 100% guarantee.

So would busting your ass in a farming community in order to create a modestly comfortable standard of living for both yourself and your neighbors really be that much different?

Would you rather bust your ass to make others rich and barely have your head above water? 馃.

@Eternity So it seems now you are bartering, which might not provide you with a comfortable lifestyle...

And people trade for things that they can't grow. In some small community, same weather, soil = same relative strengths for growing. Everyone trading potatoes--even different kinds--isn't much of a "market"...

@Eternity It's a variation of Communism which sounds similar to the utopia proposed in Edward Bellamy's Looking Backward.

Be about the same really. The downfall of man and society really started when we moved to agrarian society. That's where the root of modern capitalism starts. Armies , borders, private property, slavery, taxation, bankng, merchantilism, wealth hoarding, nation-states, water control, ecological destruction. All ties directly to the jump from hunter-gatherer to Agrarian-pastoral society.

There was conflict before of course but not at nearly the same level.
