I really struggle with people that talk a lot.

There are some colleagues at work who talk and talk and talk and talk.
They're great resources of knowledge but sometimes their knowledge becomes a talk fest. And I end up sat listening. It doesn't feel like I'm apart of the group I feel very excluded.
I occasionally do interject with force but it can be met with silences which then means the talk fest ends.

I'm a very calm and quiet person and even within a group setting I find I have always happily observed listened and added comments at a pace where by that patience is returned.

At work it always feels fast paced/competitive and just overtly showy.

I get that sometimes some people are showy, and there are others that behave this way because they are in fact nervous too.

But I do find it incredibly overwhelming and a little off putting to say the least.

If I go to get a coffee and people are in full on conversation I don't want to be rude and ignore them and stand and listen. But also don't want to be rude and interrupt. So I stay for s while until I am uncomfortable and slip away back to my desk with my drink

@startingover23 Bit of both for me.....have been known to talk the hind legs off a donkey.....and engrossed in listening to a conversation....

...and I can be sarcastic too, so a little Cass-style fun interjection to get out of something that's akin to Top Trumps....

Been known to say 'Sorry....are you still talking? Must have zoned out!' (doesn't go well..) or 'Sorry....gotta go and wash my hair, sweetie!' (which goes well...)
