time to find another job.
I don't know if they are hiring like crazy still but anybody that would ask you to come to work throwing up is a fool.

no telling if you have communicable disease - and I don't want you throwing up on my food (assuming you work at a restaurant)

and I would be straightforward in the job interview - if the new people think their behavior was appropriate then you don't want to work for them either.

@Pretzel i work at a grocery store. But i agree. Im gonna start applying else where cause this is ridiculous. They did this to me a month ago when i showed up to work throwing up. The manager wanted me to continue working because there was no one else to cover. I finally did find someone but ugh. It shouldnt be this difficult every single time someone or myself is sick

@Thequietone and the managers should be finding your replacement - it's THEIR job to have adequate staffing to cover the store - NOT yours!

@Pretzel Right! It seems like only retail/customer service jobs the managers act like this

Get a note... Technically, I believe that you can self certify for the first seven days of an illness, but if they want to play ball this way get the note and be clear to your doctor that you need it because of workplace harassment and you want that fact noting on your medical records.
I'm with you. You should be able to skip a day when you're not well. Going to the doctor is hard because you can't always even get in the day of and copays add up too.

@Spoiledbrat i ended up getting in today and the doctor even said it wasnt right as here its the law you need to miss a week or more of work to provide a doctors note or if you have missed alot during the month. Last time i called in was december when i had covid. They made more of a big deal now then when i was isolating. I feel like going to the union about it but im not sure if theyll do anything. So i basically my time, the doctors time and my money to get a stupid piece of paper that says i can go back to work

I had a manager once that tried to pull that doctor note BS. I told him I'll go to the doctor if he pays the bill.

You should not be working at a food establishment with vomiting or diarrhea. I believe that’s a health policy, so they are wrong.

You should be able to take a day off sick. Period. End of story.

I’m guessing you’re American because this is classic corporate working bs. You’re not a robot 🖤

@SW-User im canadian. But still theres so much going on right now still like covid and this rsv virus and the flu. Youd think they would chill out. Its literally been picking us off one by one. I work with so many people everyday were gonna get sick alot.
