Social Work Career for NYC?

I want to make an impact with homeless people or maybe rehab/school counselling in NYC. (Moving from Canada to NYC). But seeing a lot of "color of skin or middle class/priviledge" posts got me feeling insecure, as my families are poor who survived pirates + poverty. I just want honesty if it will be a struggle for me to find work? I want to go for Bachelors of Social work, but seems like MSW all I ever see for careers. I'm sorry if this is an offensive post to anyone, just need someone to direct me to a better perspectice with this. Moving forward.
