Power plant?
icedsky · 51-55, M
@LunarOrbit Throw down an extension cord I'll plug you in!!
LunarOrbit · 61-69, M
@icedsky I had a similar setup for 25 years
icedsky · 51-55, M
@LunarOrbitBoilers, Feedwater pumps,Condensate systems,Flash tanks, steam turbines, bailey controls, rockwell controls, PRVs should all bring back memories
LunarOrbit · 61-69, M
@icedsky Oh yeah! I commissioned two power plants (and a waste water treatment plant). 900 psi steam turbine generators, LM 6000 Gas Turbines. Delta V/Bailey control system. Deltak HRSG’s. Twin bed Ion Exchange water treatment.

Loved it. Hated shift work
icedsky · 51-55, M
@LunarOrbit We're running 875 psi through a trio of Turbine generators. An Older resin Cation/Anion demin system. A smaller RO demin that cant feed a kitchen faucet enough water. They dont trust me enough to mess around with the waste treatment system thankfully. Damn Baily system keeps burning up cards and tripping our Hog boiler. The finest in 80s technology. Dont mind the shift work anymore or Ive numbed out to it anyway.

@icedsky Cool! I cut my teeth on hog fuel. You can operate anything after running a wood fired boiler.
I dont think I ever got dirtier in my life. Damn ash system LoL

I loved nite shift. Hated flip flopping nites to days etc.
icedsky · 51-55, M
@LunarOrbit Started as a loader operator. Still have splinters in me and I dont want to talk about ash! Shits all over the place. I can put any volcano to shame with the plumes we produce! Running 400k pounds steam with an ash system designed for 150k steaming rate. Precips are full of holes and half the fields arent working. Installed a scrubber upstream of the ID fan so it back pressures into the precips. Get a plugged screw and have to open a hatch its like Vesuvius blowing up in your face!!
LunarOrbit · 61-69, M
@icedsky 400k/hr. Nice! Good size wood burner! All power or process steam too? Sounds like 50 MW stg?
We had ash reinject system cause of fuel carry over into the economizers/air heaters. Plugged up with clinker steady

We got -40° winters up here. Frozen fuel sucked.
icedsky · 51-55, M
@LunarOrbit 3 boilers. A recovery boiler that typically runs about 600k. A smaller 150k gas fired swing boiler and a gigantic Hog boiler rated to 500k but typically running about 420k. 65MW STG made by Dresser/Rand of and twin 35s MW from GE that run on 425 PSI . 3 extractions on the bigger one for process steam 425,180,and 65 psi. Hydrograte system on the hog boiler. Leaking of course Shake and bake. Dumps to a wet ash chain and exhausts to a dry fly ash system cyclone collectors, chains and screws. Steam coil air heater and low temp economizer are both leaking currently. Have a shutdown scheduled for next month. Theyll probably postpone it with the money theyre making off electricity

@icedsky Sounds like a pulp mill?

Big operation :)

I used a Detroit Hydrograte in a Foster Wheeler boiler. It dumped into a wet ash chain conveyor and it would get overloaded and jump an idler sproket often. Pain in the ass. Dont miss it one bit

Nice chattin. Have a good one!

@LunarOrbit Have a good weekend
