Some things are just too stupid to let go

My colleague said the other day the dumbest thing ever. She said non Arabs (but mainly meant westerns) do not mind infidelity much... I was so provoked of such ignorance, and asked her as to how she reached such conclusion.. She was like; a western man could forgive a woman who did this, but an Arab man would literally kill her over it.. and she said is with some pride, as in these are the "real men"..

I asked her, and do you think killing someone is better than simply leaving someone over cheating or whatever shit they did? She stared stupidly and didn't answer.. I guess her saying killing would have showed how savage her thinking was, it is why she ignored the question..

I was so provoked, for two reasons.. The first is that I hate it when people say plain ignorant things while they have no knowledge whatsoever.. I mean I can safely say that she probably never knew any person from such open western cultures on a personal level, yet she talks with such confidence about what they would and would not do.. The second is, we have real problems called honour killing, where many women lost their lives.. but then she comes in and simply talk about it like it is a good thing, which brings me back to the ignorance part.. it is because I know she probably never even heard of honour crimes, as she lives in her imaginary world of make up and clothes, and dreams of dominant and controlling men.. To her they don't represent a problem, and seem charming.. She doesn't know other women were killed over it. Pfft.

I try to keep silent at work most of the time, but some things are just too stupid to let go off.
