Advice on part time job situation

It all started last may when my judo coach offered to teach me how to become a coach. And of course that meant I had to help with the judo clasess for kids. She already has 3 people in part time employment but I'm there to learn how to get this qualification. So I had fun learning how to be a coach and genuinely believed I was making some progress. Untill my parents raised concerns that I'm not payed for my 3 and a half hours work. I said "I'm only volunteering to become a coach" but my stepfather called it child labour and said my coach was using my sevices which I was quick to dismiss.

But then I got an official job a week ago at another club and I am payed £10.50 a week which is good for a 16 year old as far as I know. My employee treats me well like I actually make a difference unlike the time where my coach expected me to take the lead in everything and teach the kids for free for 3 and a half hours. Also the coach that tried to teach me how to coach said that "she doesn't know" when I will get this qualification. But when I asked my employee about it he said that he can get me it under a year which seems like a good offer. This club where I'm employed at NOT VOLUNTEERING is smaller and based at a private school. Whereas the club where I'm learning to become a coach is a local club where the coach that is helping me get the qualification, relies on her club for a living, it is like a buisness to her.

I feel like my services are being used and maybe my stepfather was right. the woman that's teaching me how to become a coach made me feel like I was far from being a good coach, even the coaches employed by her act weird round me, they assure me I'm doing fine but another part of my brain tells me otherwise. Even my younger brother thinks she's using me because he says if he was in her position he'd do the same. Whereas my employee actually appreciates my service and seems wiling to get me this qualification fast so I can be independent not a branch of somebody elses buisness. I feel upset and like my service is undervalued. But I guess if my employee is willing to help I will be fine and my pay rate will increase once he helps me get the qualification.

What do you guys think?
