Should I have said something?

My trainer today spilled a bunch of oil on the floor. She didn't get a chance to clean it up. Our manager walked in while she was on break and assumed it was me. I swept it up to a manageable amount for him, and then he told me I'm responsible for cleaning the floor at the end of the day. I just said okay.

Then I texted my trainer, "Manager told me I'm responsible for cleaning the floor. I didn't tell him it was you." She laughed, said she'll clean it (which she did), and thanked me.

Did I do the right thing? 😆

When I worked in an auto mechanic shop it was sawdust we put over it then swept it up.. it’s was a good thing you were not confrontational about it and took the initiative to clean it up. Some things just aren’t a big deal unless someone makes it one and then says “oh I didn’t do that and it’s not my job” to answer your question .. yes you did
@SW-User Yeah she put something over it to soak it up. I just swept it. Then she sprayed it at the end of the day.
