Did this guy take this as an insult? 😂

I was off the clock and a customer asked me for help outside my department but I lead him to the product anyway. As soon as we got there, someone else asked me for help. So I shouted to a coworker, "Hey, can you help them? I'm off the clock." The guy I previously helped, walked away and did that "tsst" sound that people make when they're offended. I smiled at him politely, although he probably took it as a slight, in retrospect.

I mean... I took 6 minutes out of my free-time to help him out, so... 😂 Actions speak louder than words so my actions should have set the context.

Hey. I had this happen once as well. Only I didn't work at the store.
I was wearing my red sweater and the store we were at the workers wore orange. Bright orange.
A woman stopped me and asked me if I could help her reach an item on the top shelf. I did.
Then an older man stopped me right after and asked about a part he had that he needed to replace.
I tried to help but I was unfamiliar with the store. I did know what he was looking for tho. LOL
We talked about it for a minute then I confessed I didn't work there.
He didn't say another word but he stared at me for a minute with a blank look on his face.
He dropped his shoulders and walked away.
Hell I wanted to help I just didn't know where the department he was looking for was. LOL
