Pandemic work day. What's yours like?
Some of course will be much worse than
mine. I still have a job, have only lost one family member and haven't yelled at anyone without reason. Well they couldn't hear me through the masks and plexiglass.
The manager's wife has covid. Technically he should be quarantining but - oh no, he's perfectly healthy (despite smoking like a chimney and having zero fat on his bones) - so he's just taking a bit of time off.
I haven't been anywhere near him for weeks. But some of my coworkers might have to get swabbed and/or quarantined because he came into work on the same day his wife was sick with covid and got a positive test result.
So today when a young man came in without any face covering and started coughing carelessly over the counter, I gave him a mask and told him not to come when he's coughing. It was a sort of deliberate sounding cough, not a sick sounding one.
There were other customers, and my coworkers (including the shift manager) were too busy to notice.
Afterwards we aired the whole store and sanitized the counters, just as a precaution.
He was a visible minority. But if somebody comes to cough on people during a pandemic, they won't get politically correct treatment from me.
It's one thing if you can't keep your face covered, and another thing if you cough on people during a pandemic.
Stay healthy, everyone. And pls cover your coughs and sneezes.
