The store manager tried to teach me a lesson in human rights...

It went something like this:

'Who have the money, have the rights. Store owner, he have the money, we work for him, he do whatever he like. If he say go home, I go home, because he own store, he own us.'

The context was my request for the glaring LED lights to be turned down or off as a health & safety issue because (as they all know) I have seizures and those lights are a serious trigger.

Employees with disabilities are supposed to have a few rights too.

Kind of a distortion of how it works in Capitalism.

In truth, if he owns the company, or is the top person in control of it, he is indeed in charge. The decisions are his to make, except for the most important one of all... you can freely choose not to work there.

So no, he does not own you, he is purchasing your time, skill and education. But you have the right to decide not to sell it to him, or to take it elsewhere.

@PrivateHell He tried to send me home after I had a seizure because of the LED lights. 'If you're sick, go home. Store policy.' The second time, I refused to go home, and they made some phone calls and adjusted the lights. I wear 3 layers of sunglasses and a big hat to block out whatever I can.
