I'm making a wooden bowl to collect rainwater in. Is it going to be contaminated by the wood? Read full story below before answering:

I'm making a wooden bowl to collect rainwater in. I will not put any form of substance on top of the wood such as glacing etc. No glacing! Just regular wood carved out with a rock.

I am very into "survival prepping" and "primitive technology". Thus I am wondering: my wooden bowl rainwater "invention": Is the water going to be contaminated by the wood?

For instance, if the wood dissolves into the water as the bowl gets filled?

I also have a second question: what did people drink from in medieval times and stone age times who were so poor they could not afford much material or find much material? What did they use (besides horns, silver, copper)?

Wood is porous and good for nothing but scraping. Wooden spoons and spatulas are a very bad idea . Even if you soak them in bleach, it only makes them a rich environment for the next day. They are great for scraping down broilers though.
