I'm making a wooden bowl to collect rainwater in. Is it going to be contaminated by the wood? Read full story below before answering:

I'm making a wooden bowl to collect rainwater in. I will not put any form of substance on top of the wood such as glacing etc. No glacing! Just regular wood carved out with a rock.

I am very into "survival prepping" and "primitive technology". Thus I am wondering: my wooden bowl rainwater "invention": Is the water going to be contaminated by the wood?

For instance, if the wood dissolves into the water as the bowl gets filled?

I also have a second question: what did people drink from in medieval times and stone age times who were so poor they could not afford much material or find much material? What did they use (besides horns, silver, copper)?

I don't know the answer. depends on the wood and any decay will take a long long time. there is a guy on you tube who does amazing primitive survival videos. he has incredible skills. I will look for a link

@Bushmanoz I've watched a lot of them. His name is Primitive Technology I think... I like his videos. But he never showed us how to make a glass, from my understanding.

The only people who showed us how to make glasses were 2 dudes who used limestone or something to make the sand turn to glass at a lower temperature. However, they did not specify how they got the limestone nor did they say what other material they used (if they used more than limestone). They also just wrote "lime" instead of "limestone" which was a bit confusing.
