Stupid isn't it.
You'd think after the first attempt to manipulate the market the govt. would have stepped in and said "any more monkeying about and all stock and shares pricing will be frozen !"
But no. Let market forces screw with economies !
After all. This Coronavirus blurb across all media is probably masking some enormous government screw ups economically.

@Picklebobble2 it's not a conspiracy theory but a major economic recession that we are about to face. and so what if we don't have the first clue how to stop a very new mutation in a virus? the people who drank marshy waters for malaria experiments were real too and so were people who died before vaccines were a thing, or those that die due to experimental drug complications. there have to be sacrifices before a new drug is born to save the future.

@Picklebobble2 sorry but pandemics are bound to happen. And yes, that means humans automatically become subjects of an experiment for a greater good. And yes it makes us a sacrifice. We have evolved to survive and become medically stronger on the sacrifices of our ancestors. And that's just how the world rolls.
