I'm trying to stay positive but it's hard

I'm in this class at school, and 13 of us all have one objective: to get a client and do a communication audit. There's so much work involved, and they're actually paying us $5,000. We don't see the money but it goes into costs of printing the audit book and others. At the end of it all we're going to have 5oo to 800 pages. It's rough, but I hope it's worth it.

What is a communication audit?

@JoyfulSilence it's a comprehensive analysis of an organization's internal and external communication channels to their Publics

@Plumouter Is this a general term, that covers all forms of communication, like speech, writing, and media? Or is it a computer systems thing, like devices, networks, etc?

@JoyfulSilence general, it's looking at all channels of communication the organization has with their internal and external publics. We analyze how they communicate, and give recommendations at the end.

Say for example a police department, we would conduct interviews focus groups and surveys. The internal Public's could be dispatch, police officers, Administration, the mayor of the town, the public works, etc. So we would have to get in contact with all of them to do all three of these research processes. Same goes for external like residents and stuff. And we compile all the information and give them a big ass book at the end

@Plumouter Sounds interesting. Good luck!

I am glad I do not have to communicate with the public on my job. I do have to communicate internally, both in my office, and with other offices. I serve in a specialized support role supporting other offices that perform the core functions.

@Plumouter I am fortunate that we have an office devoted to our publications and public relations. I am not in it. In fact, I do not personally know anybody in it. I work for the government. We administer surveys and publish the results!
