What profession was once highly respected, but now is a complete joke?

Law enforcement. I don't know if they're considered a joke, but they used to be more respected and now are mostly just feared.

@TeresaRudolph71 you can thank Obama and the lib media for that . For the most part every police officer I have met has made me feel like they are good conscientious people . Especially the ex military officers

@TexChik I've gotten that impression about most police officers I've met too. And I agree, Obama and the media really damaged their reputation. The Rodney King thing certain didn't help things, but I think relations between the police and the civilian public improved soon after that. I hope it can once again.
