Do people on your job only seem to want to engage in a silly conversation?

For saying stuff just for the sake of saying it and not for any real meaning or connection. People don't seem to like thoughtful conversations just a bunch of silly stuff.

I am very observant. My co-workers, whom i share an open office with, talk outloud to themselves, and/ or about what they're doing so that other co-workers can chime in and make a conversation out of it. I find it weird.

I cant even explain how weird it is. As soon as it is quiet for like 2 minutes, people say " uh its so quiet" as if quietness hurts their ears.

Possibly you are introverted and they are extroverts. I always had similar issues my whole life long.

@Wraithorn sure am. I am fine with people. I just done want to hear mindless, pointless chatter all day long.

@iamnikki can you block them out for a while? That's what I do... I indulge them for a couple of minutes when I walk in but then settle in, plug in my earphones and get my much needed alone time (well, as much as you could get in an open workspace) to recharge :)

@iamnikki I understand. 🙂
