Are you a freelancer? Is it fun or good?

I just came across the word 'freelance' when looking for a job on the internet and judging by the meaning of the word on the online dictionary, it sounds kinda fun because not being tied to any organization (thus the word 'free') although no fixed salary.

For me it's fine. I am a freelance translator and digital artist and sometimes it pays more than a 9-5 job. The disadvantage is, yeah, no steady income.
