Would you comply with wearing a tracking device on your person per the request of your employer?

Today the administration at my place of employment informed us of a new national pilot program our building was selected to participate in. The program entails that all employees are to wear a tracking device so as to provide real time data as to how many man hours are being spent in each operation. No literature or documentation covering the legality of the program was provided. There was no power point presentation elaborating on any detail. No website we could be referred to for more information. When raising the question as to whether or not employees are contractually obligated to participate, I was met with hostility and abruptly "assured" that all bases are covered. The point was made that non-compliance would absolutely result in disciplinary action being taken. What are your thoughts?

Some companies are requiring the chip be implanted. It sounds as if this may be a precursor. I value my privacy too much to agree to that.

@curiosi and Trackboy:

The question reads, "... wear a tracking device..." {My emboldening}

Nothing about implanted chips, though I know there are companies now selling these.

@curiosiThank-you; I see it, for the first time in fact. I apologise for having missed it previously!

Still, the question is clearly about "only" wearing the tag, not having it put inside you.

Actually answering both points, my view is whether that tag or implant, the company concerned basically does not trust its employees. If it did, surely it would be far more forthcoming on discussing the system with everyone in advance.

My own employer used electronic tags and combination locks but the devices were rather like USB sticks, had a range of no more than a foot at best; and they didn't track your location, only let you enter the building.

Ways of assessing the times that specific operations take have been around for a long time, but are less personally intrusive. At one factory I worked, it was done by using cards punched in a clock.

@ArishMell Understandable that a company would want you to be checked for certain things like entering as many have sensitive material. When it is done in a way that inhibits privacy it is wrong.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@curiosi Oh yes, I agree entirely. We all had to wear visible passes within the building too, but were told not to wear them outside.

I can't see the idea of implanted chips catching on in Britain, for various reasons. For a start the notion of even having to carry an identity-card, compulsory in some European countries, is anathema to many.

However, such cards or chips may be less worrying in future to many younger people. These are people apparently having little or no concept of personal privacy and security, as an effect of feeling they have to live unquestioningly on "smart" phones and open-identity web-sites like Facebook.

@ArishMell that is the mark of the beast predicted in the bible. its better to refuse the mark of the beast and be beheaded for it. then to take the mark of the beast and become property of satan and cast into the lake of fire along with satan to be destroyed. you go straight to heaven when beheaded for refusing the mark of the beast. 😺

@trackboy
I know that's what you call it - but I do not believe in that sort of superstition, nor do I believe the Government of the United States of America would sanction beheading for refusing to be implanted.

@ArishMell when the anti Christ is ruling with his muslim army the muslims will behead us if we refuse to take the mark of the beast. its in revelations in the bible. 😺

@trackboy You get dafter! :-)

@trackboy muslims kill by beheading. isis and the Taliban kill its victims by beheading them. is very clear in the bible that it will be muslims beheading us for refusing the mark as its muslims that kill by beheading. their prophet allah the luminous one is lucifer the luminous one as he is the brightest angel and was gods highest creation. anyone that takes the mark will be stung by demons and suffer grievous sores as god wont protect them from the demons. then at the end god will cast anyone that took the mark into the lake of fire to be destroyed along with lucifer and all the demons. 😺
