Are the people in the marketing field very deceiving?

I was previously at first...being persuaded or got tricked to sign up to be an insurance sales agent because the person never directly told me about the job title, job field or even what it is truly about.
I only found out after I signed the documents.

Now I am doing a job as a telesales executive (5th day) but can't make any sales.
I was told to ask if there was a basic salary and today, after a colleague told me that sometimes she couldn't make any sales in month (means no salary for that month), I just remembered that during the job interview, when I asked if there is a basic salary...the person never answered my question, but instead explained to me about the commission scheme.

Even though there are scripts to talk including when people object, I never really followed it because it feels wrong for me to manipulate/persuade people.
When they already told me on the phone about their objections like the cost of the product, it's like I understood, cared, and won't try to change their mind.

Business is almost always based on lies. I've had those commission-only jobs and they are a scam. If a business hires you, they should respect you enough to pay a livable wage.

That's why I hate business since I was young...the lying part.

I heard one manager said that if the client asked how we got their number, tell them that we have a talented research team a bunch of other stuff just to sound amazing...even though there's no such thing.

I heard other stuff too.
Sometimes I pretended to make a call or while trying to call, I eavesdropped on their conversation about the job...disappointing.
Have you researched the product you are selling? You might be scamming people without your own knowledge, sounds like it to me.

The product is a one vip platinum membership in things related to hotels and resorts in the participating shops/hotels/restaurants.
It also includes free vouchers such as one free lunch, dinner, brunch, and a night stay at a deluxe room.

Not scam because the office is there and it is under a big company.
They got the numbers to call from their own business directory which also includes wrong numbers and invalid numbers.
