Learn to detach, your patients grab onto you like a lifeline and you can't fix everything for them.
Always be aware of everything around you. Never let down your guard and look for potential hazards in everything at all times in all places. Don't be nervous or anxious, but just pay attention to everything. Stay sharp, and stay alive. (This would be for offloading tools, parts, and groceries from crew / supply boat to an oil rig in the gulf of Mexico, or tying off, or any other sphincter tightening activities that might come up.) That's mostly what I did for work. It was always kind of crazy work with crazy people. Before that I was a powder monkey for Northern Geophysical , and that would be the same advice pretty much. In between successes, I was a failure. That's pretty my life since getting out of the service.

Accept things out of your control. Get thick skin. Take excellent notes. Document everything and I mean EVERYTHING.

Don't do it unless you like to write a lot and have to take the blame for all your employees' mistakes.

Run the other way as fast as you can
@htoad34 🤣 Not sure why I find that so amusing.
You can do better

High expectations all around you. Or you can cheat the system. I won't respect you for the latter.

Enjoy the aggravation😟

I was a nurse and I'd recommend it as a good career. It's hard but pays well and you can find work anywhere. Plus it is rewarding.
