If you had extra to give. PTO is paid time off

Like to a co-worker who was sick and had no more PTO...or for them to take care of a sick family member..etc

I didn't even know this was possible until yesterday...

I didn't do it because I couldn't designate it to the ones who I wanted to, the university put it in a pool and decided who and how much to give to. Otherwise, yes I would have done it.

@cherokeepatti oh i wouldn't like that either

@iamnikki Sad because I had 1600 hours when I retired...and you never know if something will happen and you need to use it, like an accident or medical condition...about 8 months worth total if I had needed it.

@cherokeepatti thats nice. I dont think most places will let it accumulate like that though. Use it or lose it they say

@iamnikki I lost all those hours when I retired, but the good thing is I never had to use a lot of time for an injury or illness.

@cherokeepatti aw man. You didn't even get the money for them? How come you didn't use em up before you left?

@iamnikki My department made separate rules where if we used 24 hours in a 3-month period without giving prior notice they would write us up...3 write-ups in a row and we'd be terminated. Plus they cut back on the amount of employees making a bigger workload and then would give excuses for not letting us take all our hours. We had separate vacation and personal leave time but even getting vacation approved was sometimes like pulling teeth.
