Why do employers make you send a resume, when they will also make you fill out an online application?

You stress out over making your resume perfect, but then for every job you’re really interested in, you have to do an online application anyway. (Don’t get me started on those goddamn online applications.) It seems like a lot of wasted effort.

Anymore, the computer runs through your resume looking for key words, "management, a particular computer program" shit like that. I honestly believe that the written application is to check your spelling and writing ability as well as penmanship.

@xixgun Spelling and writing ability matter in my occupation. So I don’t mind being expected to be good at that.
