Will it be bad to quit now?
I think deep down I don’t care about this but my “good nature” feels awkward about this.
Key points:
- Applied for a job, not what I thought it would be in practise. A lot of admin and mind numbing stuff (been here less than a year - internal move)
- I raised this with my manager, manager was dismissive and basically shut me down
- Manager treats me like a PA. Has humiliated me several times (e.g. making me travel to another office, I get there early and tells me I can’t sit down because another colleague isn’t there, I run back to the other office because I have a call with manager and manager doesn’t jump on call OR not reading my emails on my annual leave despite telling manager the day before and manager calls global team and exaggerates that I took leave without informing... a lot of annoying shit)
- Colleagues noticed I was doing nothing and advised I look elsewhere. Same colleagues told manager I was looking elsewhere (even though I was not) funnily enough one colleague has left the team now. Said manager brings this to my attention and makes it all about them and how this looks bad for their promotion prospects (dead)
- I asked my manager to be put on more interesting work, they put me on the biggest admin project in history
- Colleagues demand I drop my workload to help them with their stuff, I say I can’t... they reply saying well said manager said we should give you “important stuff to do” — WOW
- The list goes on.
I have been applying for jobs like crazy. I got rejected from one today after so much prep, hard work and not dropping the ball once in the interview. Their loss tbh because I work my ass off. The thought of staying in my current team is an annoying one but I am just trying to play it cool after all these back stabbing etc. Another final round interview is scheduled so I am hoping to get this job. But need to remain cool. Particularly if I need to stay in the team past new year.
