Hypocrisy and selfishness in the workplace, has anyone else noticed that?

I work for a telecommunication company as a salesman, I go door-to-door to talk to people about a new program that has been introduced in the city to lower prices and increase quality. We're a small group of about 20 salesman and even though most people during meetings and workshops talk about the importance of group mentality and working together, I've noticed that literally 99% of people are out for themselves and don't care about how the people in their team perform as long as they get to perform well and make sales. There seems to be a lot of hypocrisy in jobs that involve advancing on your own and getting paid a certain specific amount per sales. Am I the only one who has noticed that?
Yeah, I've noticed that. Learned the hard way, too...

Trust no one...

@VomitingWords I already trust no one as it is and I don't plan on keeping that job for much longer anyways. It just struck me, the level of deception and hypocrisy is something I've never experienced in any other jobs I've had so far in my life.
