If you knew you was working with materials that you thought didn't meet various standards.. Would you still use them if your employer supplied them?

If the materials aren't up to the job and you use them knowing that, does that make you liable for any problems that arise ?
In other words. Is there a chance your company would hang you out to dry rather than admit liability because of their choice in materials used ?

Might be worth getting some advice on that.
