I filed an EEOC case against my last employer for being laid off unfairly. I cant get any job now. Are they blackballing me somehow?

While my age and race are most certainly working against me, it seems ridiculous that I am being turned down for everything - even after I am told that I am the leading candidate. Last month, I had a guy tell me that he would hire me on the spot if he didn't have more interviews scheduled. My friend thinks that my last employer has some way to blackball me for filing an EEOC on them after eliminating my department and laying me off while the rest of my department (who were all white females) were transferred to other jobs in the company. I just don't think they can do that. Most of the time I am eliminated before they can even check references.
