What is your attitude to open-plan offices?

Poll - Total Votes: 19
Not a big fan.
Neither here or there, an office is an office.
Hate them, you need your peace and quiet
You like them, interacting with your colleagues is ace.
Love it, the hustle and the bustle of a busy office is what keeps you going.

Interesting - they get a real panning. We moved to open plan about 5 years ago in my department. So many complaints about noise etc.

There is evidence of them being less productive and people taking more time off sick... However the great driver of cost savings means I doubt we'll see a return to sectioned off office space.

@SW-User What is the point of cost savings with less productivity?

@Madeleine Because you can always crack the whip harder once you've saved the money. The money saving is normally the big driver isn't it in most companies? Having that saving is something very concrete to show the shareholders. We saved £x this year so your dividend goes up by £y. As long as your saving is greater than the loss of productivity
