Would it be fine if I apply for a position that is two steps higher?

I might never get the chance again if I apply for just one step higher. I feel like I might get stuck there for most of my life, if not forever (I'm not good in PR.) But then again, I'll be bypassing someone five years senior. Besides, it's just a try. :/

You have nothing to lose by trying and it shows your ambition to further yourself. Even the experience of the interview process for a higher role will be valuable for the future. If you think about it and don't try then you will always regret
@JayneA My biggest consideration is the bypassing of a senior. She might not like it that she has more experience than me but I would potentially be being paid more, if accepted. There is no interview. That is for new entrants, not for those already in the inside. Thus, it's more like submitting papers and getting recommended I believe. But yes, I think I will regret it if I don't do it.

@wafertime you are not bypassing anyone if they choose not to apply for the role and you do. Some people are happy in the role they are in. You are the one who can decide what you do
@JayneA Oh my gosh you're right! That makes me feel so much better. Thank you.
