It seems pretty common that creatives are emotional. The Philosopher Freidrich Nietzsche actually did a lot of research into art. His stance was that the Greeks had better art than the Germans because they, as a culture, put more value on emotion. As a result, their art was less "sterile" and more vibrant.
There's also a book called Descartes' Error, which says something similar, or at least applies.
