Sick Days?

So, I called in this morning to let my manager know that I have a horrible ear infection and that I would be late. She also stressed that I needed to be there because they were already short handed two people. Now, I don't mean to be rude, but that's not my problem!!! She gave me some numbers of people to call so I could find someone to cover, and told me to go to the doctor now so I could be in on time. (I couldn't find anyone)

Excuse me, what?

What doctor does she go to!? No doctor is going to be that quick, and I couldn't even get in until 10:30. (My shift starts at 10.) So, I called back, and luckily my assistant manager picked up and was MUCH nicer about it, saying that he'd let my manager know. But why can't my manager just be sympathetic and not let other people call in who don't need off?

That is your sign to move on, find another employer.
@swirlie I quit today! Apparently when I called in sick again, some coworkers thought it would be fun to tell my manager that I quit. That was the last straw for me.

Your signs have been abundant for you! Congratulations on listening to those signs!
@swirlie Thank you so much! I'm very happy now, and I'm SO happy I left.

Oh, you are most welcome! Sometimes receiving those signs is not just about finding another employer, you know! Sometimes those signs are there to refocus your attention into perhaps becoming self-employed... starting a small business.

When we are working full-time, we simply do not have the opportunity nor the time to pursue self-employment opportunities. But when we suddenly leave a job, a narrow window of opportunity is opened for us where we can either pursue another opportunity to become someone else's employee again, or we can become the 'employER' in our own business. Keep that in mind too!
@swirlie I definitely will! I am a student right now, but I think I am going to take a break before looking for a job again.

Good idea! Taking a break gives one's mind the opportunity to re-group, so to speak. Let me know if you ever want to talk about options! I wish you a ton of good fortune! 🎰
