I heard this from a colleague today. Made me smile...
"Work is like a tree full of monkeys; those at the top look down and see smiling faces. Those at the bottom look up and see arseholes."

There is a corollary to Murphy's Law that says..."the higher one climbs the pole, the more they show their ass." It is just the nature of things.
