Got a Forklift certificate (UK) but why am I feeling apprehensive?

I mean, it is the UK. Bosses say "Take your time, u have "six months" of learning!" In reality? They REALLY mean "Make one mistake we will get rid of you" OR "Don't show us fast speed in 6 days you're out!"

Now, Forklift IS an exception due to H&S but does Management realise this? First time I might load / unload one pallet whereas an experienced will do 5! Will Management respect my inexperience or compare me with the experienced?

What are your thoughts and experiences in ANY industry in UK or where you're from?

@GoFish Oh! Am still job hunting, got certified today. This "Take your time" and "Health and Safety" are only for a show at workplaces. Some workplace will have speed requirements, kudos to them for honesty BEFORE applicants become employees and know expectations.

My last w/p was Hexcel, big on H&S. A 24/7 operations any guesses when the H&S worked? Mon to Fri 8.30 to 4pm. NO cctv, NO DM's on nights and weekend. So, who is responsible to ensure all employees keep in line with HnS?? Don't know. What if they do things outta line, regarding H&S? Don't care, not our problem.

Problem with UK in general. Management say one thing but they really mean another thing.
