I feel like I'm close to breaking down at work.

The client sent data for last year to one of my coworkers. She worked on that data but didn't finish what she was doing when she retired a couple months ago. I get an email like 3 weeks ago asking when THIS YEAR's data processing will be ready (which we need for internal reasons and the client never actually sees). I ask around about what's up with this report, I finish last year's work, and I ask the client for the info we need for this year's work.

So they send me their more recent data. It's full of problems, so I ask for follow-up data. I incorporate the follow-up data in, but there's still way more shit that I need. I ask for even more follow-up data and it comes in today. And now, the client is mad that the report isn't ready even though they've now sent 2 rounds of follow-up data. They have a deadline coming up that they can't afford to miss. I have a coworker getting up my ass because the client's management reached out to him (and I can't blame him at all). Apparently this is a pretty important client.

I feel like my heart is going to explode from stress. Workload keeps piling on, more mergers and acquisitions and fewer and fewer team members to deal with it all.

I feel for you homie. I often deal with similar issues but I've managed to just not give a fuck.
I guess that's a lot easier to do in Germany though because they can't fire me for random shit they make up...

Just do the best you can so you can be content with yourself and fuck what management thinks of you.

@GermanAf Eventually things are just going to fail, workload will be literally impossible and the CEO will just have to decide whose fault he thinks it is. He owns the company outright, it's literally his money. I wonder what he will do.

But it's not your fault. What can you do invent new data? Whoever is late, it's theirs fault .the client should understand that.
