Was the boss ripped off?

The boss showed me his Ford Raptor SVT. I really wasn't impressed with it. He said he paid $18k for it. It has 160,000 miles on it and is 15 years old.

I could never see paying nearly $20k for an old vehicle with that many miles unless it was a classic car (50’s, 60’s, or 70’s era) that I planned to restore.

@BamPow Classic cars are the best.

@BamPow but we never a new pickup would be 100 grand either

@MarineBob I can get a 2025 F150 XL 4x4 for around $43k here, which I still think is outrageous, but at least it’s not $100k. When I buy a truck, I’m looking for something more bare bones anyway. I want cloth seats and rubber flooring instead of carpet. I really would never want the high end package, because I use my trucks like trucks. Leather, carpet, and all the bells and whistles would end up getting trashed anyway. Just give me the basic model with a spray in bed liner, and I’ll drive it until the wheels fall off.

@BamPow My first car was so barebones it didn't even have power steering.

@shinyplasticlove Mine was a 77 Buick Century with a manual 3 on the tree. It had power steering but no other conveniences. I paid $400 cash for it in 1987 and drove it for three years before it finally croaked.

@BamPow I wish I still had my 77 Lincoln Continental. That boat was awesome.

@shinyplasticlove I feel the same about that Buick. I’d love to track down another one or a 77 Olds Cutlass, which was basically the same car.
