Do you have some anxiety and guilt when you stand up for yourself?

That probably sounds stupid to most people...

My one manager that doesn't like me does love to blame me and have me clean up after coworkers. Rather than her address the person that makes mistakes and messes then leaves, she makes me fix it. Today she pulled it seven minutes before I clocked out...

I told her no. I said that I would not clean up after coworkers leaving things the way they shouldn't when I don't do that to them.

Now that I'm home chilling, I'm feeling the anxiety creep in. The guilt. Was I rude? Was I too sassy? (Probably yes 😬) Are they gonna fire me? Why don't they like me? Am I not doing a good job?

And this is not the kinda job you worry about losing. I actually deserve better. It's had a negative impact on my health.

Tbh, it's a dumb fecking job.

Yet I'm swimming in the anxiety pond like it's not okay to stick up for myself. I'm feeling guilty because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I feel like a monumental ass clown for not just doing what she told me to avoid drama.

Anybody else this doofy?

When you're not used to setting boundaries and standing up for yourself this is how you end up feeling.
Unfortunately you are all tied to a contract and job description so that means you should all be working as a team. If that isn't happening your manager should be stepping in to ensure this is happening or delegating/allocating people to get that job done.

In the event that it is always you, may be laziness on the managers part, simply because you do it no complaints asked. But actually that's not fair.

If you are fired for this I would suggest you seek legal advice and take them to the tribunal for unfair dismissal. Even if this isn't the kind of job to fuss about. It's the principle of it all.

Good luck my dear.

Don't feel guilty for standing up for yourself x

(Just stood up for myself in a situation I was taking for too long and although initially felt guilty I actually feel free)
