My boss is smart but kinda dumb too

In items of technical skills, he's got his shit together. But he hates that the big boss has no technical skills and is a big softie with people. There is one guy is particular who is lazy but the big boss is super nice to, I think there is some family connection there, my boss hates this guy with a vengeance, seeing him as someone who should be fired.

I'm playing the complete opposite game, I extend to the lazy dude help and patience. I don't express any judgement even when it's obvious this guy doesn't know a lot of the basics of his role. I see becoming the go-to technical help of big boss's office friend is a massive job security measure, the big boss isn't about to fire the guy that's making his friend look good.
