How do you deal with coworkers that are controlling and conniving?

I would say thank you with a smile , and proceed to do nothing of what they told me to do.

Be needy and bombard them with questions and requests.

It's called malicious compliance and works great on micromanaging supervisors and managers.If your co worker is not in a higher position than you they cannot micro manage you.Tell them where they can go.

Just continue doing your job since you know what you should be doing and whom you take orders from. If she doesn't "approve", it's her problem.

nip it in the bud real quick. If she ISN'T going to be your manager/supervisor, let her know real quick that she is not your boss...
IF she will be , let her know that you are capable of doing your job and do not need to be micromanaged.

Im wondering the same thing. This shit is exactly why I quit my current job. Counting down the days of leaving for good.
