Q for the people who work in the office

Are you one of those people that uses ellipsis in an email?
for example "Has the order in the attached invoice been received...." or "Okay, Thank you...."

If you are what the hell are the ellipsis for? Like what tone are you setting? it feels ominous lol

I use them fairly often, sort of in place of a comma. Probably not in the grammatically correct way, either, but no "tone' is intended. 🥴
Carla · 61-69, F
@Piper i use them way too often. As a pause while i think. As an invitation to continue a conversation. Like a long comma(long comma(?)).
Suki used to give me a hard time about it, back in the day.

@Carla I figure I use them way too aften, also, according to some. That, using bold or italic to put emphasis on certain words, and using single quotation marks. Since it only annoys those who already have some 'problem' with me, I'll just go ahead and continue be grammatically improper. 🙂

Suki gave a lot of us a hard time, as I recall.

And, on top of all that, an ellipsis has only THREE dots, not four...The fourth dot makes it an NRN or EOD. ;)
plungesponge · 41-45, M
...sometimes...
NoahB · 31-35, M
@plungesponge yes..... sometimes....
I use them a lot, but not in sentences like that. It's like a pause or semi-open ending for me.
NoahB · 31-35, M
@NerdyPotato semi-open ending?
@NoahB yes, you'll see plenty of examples in my posts and comments. 🙂
I have a coworker who does that. I imagine it's her brain struggling to put together a thought.
