Today a colleague was rude to me for no reason and called me some unpleasant stuff
Should I inform my superior or would that just make me a cry baby? It wasn't exactly a slur or a cuss word but it was a derogatory phrase.

You can tell them directly that you found it disrespectful and unprofessional and you expect it not to happen again. MAYBE they had a off day. This conversation will provide additional information.

@turningthekeys Then document, document, document. If they violate civil rights regs ( gender, race, etc.) file formal complaint. Also document any time mgt has been made aware. Note date, times, circumstances and witnesses. Sign what you write up. This could become legal evidence so stick to objective facts sans hyperbolic adjectives.
