Working remote sounds great right? What they’re not saying is they expect you to be available 24x7x365. That’s called work/life balance. At work no life necessary means you’re a truly dedicated worker and thrilled to be a part. They really love you. And you can spend all those earnings on your new home office subject of course to their approval. Of course they will basically own everything for as long as you work for them or until you drop which they also get to decide “at will”. As far as after, what’s yours is also subject to approval. They have good lawyers.

But welcome to the new normal! They’re looking forward to your never ending servitude.
If this is how your company functions you should get a new job. Not all companies are like this.

@nonsensiclesnail Not yet but…It seems like all companies are moving in this direction.
@sdave455 Can you give me examples of companies that are headed this way? Life work balance has been a company culture issue for some time, but I’ve met none that work from home who has had this issue.

@nonsensiclesnail I won’t offer any names as I have too much that I would risk. But go on any of the professional job sites and check out requirements in the lists. You’ll find a lot of weasel phrases on the postings like “flexible work schedule” along with “must be able to work non-standard hours including weekends, holidays etc” In my own personal experiences that always translates to my employer taking full advantage and expecting work performed 24x7x365. Some are not even that upfront about it unless you ask.
