I Use a Menstrual Cup

I'm going to try one more time. I'll buy a smaller one and hopefully that will fit because the hours I spent trying to make mine fit were pure torture and frustration. I tried all the folds, boiled it in water to soften the silicone, waited until my period, and everything else that was suggested on help sites and YouTube videos. No luck! So it's another month using pads 馃檮 Does anyone know any smaller brands? I used a VivaCup and can't find any small ones available online at the moment.

And have I told you how much these cramps are killing me? They kept me in bed all day!

I tried using a mooncup, and had an awful time. It actually pulled my copper coil out of place. They claim that it doesn't do this, but there was no other explanation and my Dr agreed that it is definitely possible. She also recommended not using them unless you've had a baby, so yeah. 馃槙 No cup for me.

@Randomlygenerated Wow, I didn't know that could happen. Sorry you went through that.

Once I (finally) got the cup out, it wasn't painful so it was ok in that regard. I just noticed something was wrong, and got my coil checked and sure enough needed a replacement. But I was lucky it didn't tear anything. They should really put warnings on them that they are NOT suitable for women who have a coil fitted - even if most women don't have a problem, there is still the risk that someone could have a perforation or infection as a result.
Which is a shame really, because I like the idea of using them. I will try again after I've had a baby, if I decide to use a different method of contraception.
