HRT after 60 years old
I am going to continue HRT well past 60 years old for some important reasons..
First, I have type 3 hyperlipoproteinemia (Familial Dysbetalipoproteinemia), and I am protected against cardiovascular diseases( to some extent) associated with type 3 hyperlipoproteinemia by estrogen. Estrogen improves lipid profiles and reduces inflammation that leads to increased atherosclerosis. This is a huge problem in my family line. 😔

Second- Research seems to be showing that progesterone (only micronized) may help reduce seizure activity, and I have had absence seizures all my life. They have recently increased, and after seeing my family practitioner yesterday, he has agreed to keep me on micronized progesterone and estradiol. Before seeing my doctor, I was getting the meds out of the country because of no health insurance, but I decided to pay out of pocket and see my doctor. I started back on the progesterone about 3 days ago (some I still had of my own), and the seizure activity does seem to be calming down.🙂
Some other benefits of micronized progesterone are improved sleep and mood. I really like the improved mood. I have far less anxiety.🙂
I had a hysterectomy at 21 years old, and I have taken HRT off and on since then, but this has become even more important of late, as I am now post menopausal.
